M*A*S*H legend has died aged 82

Patrick Adiarte, the actor known for his recurring role in the first season of the cherished sitcom MAS*H, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 82.

Adiarte had a distinguished career in musical theater, featuring prominently in the film adaptations of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s productions, The King And I and Flower Drum Song.

Patrick Robert Adiarte was a Filipino actor, known for his portrayal of characters with Asian or other foreign origins in American film and television productions. His roles included Prince Chulalongkorn in the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical The King and I, Wang San in Flower Drum Song, college student T.J.

The actor, originally from the Philippines, also featured in iconic television series such as Bonanza, The Brady Bunch, Hawaii Five-O, and Kojak during the 1970s. In that era, he secured his most lasting and beloved role as the camp houseboy Ho-Jon on MAS*H, a character he portrayed from 1972 to 1973.

He was an exceptional dancer, showcasing his skills during a television performance alongside Gene Kelly, who regarded him as a possible heir to Fred Astaire.
